Michelle Dalmau and Kevin Hawkins wrote in TEI-L: "Following on papers, presentations and discussions that resulted from the theme of the 2009 Conference and Members' Meeting of the TEI Consortium, 'Text Encoding in the Era of Mass Digitization,' the launch of the AccessTEI program in 2010, and the recent release of the 'Best Practices for TEI in Libraries' in 2011, it behooves us—stewards of text encoding initiatives in academic libraries—to better understand if and how text encoding practices have changed as a result of mass digitization by Google, declining budgets, and an increased emphasis on streamlined digital library services in support of speedier and more voluminous online content production and publishing.
If you work in a library, and have worked or currently work with text encoding projects, please take our survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/tei_in_libraries. We are hoping for at least 200 responses and are about half way there. We definitely want to hear from folks who work in libraries big and small, and here, there and everywhere. It's not about a singular institutional perspective. We want to hear from *every one who has worked or currently works with text encoding projects in ANY capacity* (i.e., web development, project management, etc.). Please reach out to your colleagues across your library and colleagues at other libraries, and encourage them to also take the survey.
The survey closes on January 31, 2013. I hear this is a great-time of year for survey-taking".
