In Colorado brachte der Abgeordnete David Schultheis eine Resolution ein, der zufolge öffentliche Bibliotheken nur mehr englischsprachige Bücher kaufen dürften, ausgenommen Sprachlehrbücher oder Nachschlagewerke - zielt wohl besonders auf den spanischsprachigen Bestand ab: "Prohibits any publicly supported library, either in connection with the library system as a whole or with reference to any particular branch location of the library, from purchasing any printed or electronic documents, publications, or other materials in a language other than English. Specifies that this requirement of the concurrent resolution shall not restrict the purchase of either textbooks or related instructional materials used for the purpose of teaching a foreign language or reference materials published in a language other than English".
Die "Colorado Alliance for Immigration Reform" kritisiert dann noch besonders den spanischsprachigen Bestand in den Büchereien Denvers: "Is the Denver Public Library system converting libraries to Spanish language libraries at taxpayer expense? Quite possibly".
Has the Spanish-language-only concept for branch libraries ever been discussed or evaluated by the Library Commission or the City Council as a factor promoting social fragmentation, cultural balkanization and ethnic separatism?" bleibt...
