News from the circulation department:
  • In the Baltimore County library, a patron borrowed 402 items under ten different library cards. He never gave them back, but presumably sold them, writes Nick Shields in newsday.com, "fees and charges for these items amount to over $ 8,400". The patron was charged with theft, convicted and sentenced to three years in gaol.
  • As the Schwäbische Zeitung writes, a book from a New Zealand library was returned after 61 years. The library will waive the overdue fees in the amount of 5130 € and display the book with a sign saying "It's never too late to return a book".
  • Sounds like those librarians would have needed Rex Libris...
