Library of Congress auf Flickr

Die Library of Congress ist auf Flickr - zwei Sammlungen wurden zusätzlich zur bibliothekseigenen Website auch bei der Photo Community eingestellt und sind zum Taggen und Kommentieren freigegeben. In den FAQ zum Projekt werden drei Gründe geliefert:

To share photographs from the Library's collections with people who enjoy images but might not visit the Library's own Web site

To gain a better understanding of how social tagging and community input could benefit both the Library and users of the collections

To gain experience participating in Web communities that are interested in the kinds of materials in the Library's collections.

Eingestellt wurden über 1600 Farbphotos der Farm Security Administration bzw. des Office of War Information, die zwischen 1939 and 1944 entstanden sind, und 1500 Schwarzweißbilder des Bain News Service von ca. 1910 bis 1912.
